The rules, regulations, and code of conduct of Good Samaritan School are formulated to aim for high academic standards, enforce good discipline and develop the character of the students to become highly productive citizens of our nation. It gives ample rights to the students to enjoy, and expects them to honour the responsibilities that come with their rights.
Rules and regulations concerning appropriate student behavior are expected to be followed with respect. School disciplinary regulations ensure equitable treatment for all students and provide a safe and healthy teaching and learning environment.
School personnel are obliged to ensure the constitutional rights of individual students and to protect the privilege of students to attend school and school-sponsored events free of illegal activities.
Students are expected to attend school and all classes punctually and regularly. Regular attendance assists students in the development of self-discipline and good work habits. These habits generally remain with the students as they enter into their future career. It is essential to teach the benefits of these and encourage good attendance and punctuality during a student’s schooling period in their lives. Regular attendance is a shared responsibility by the community, home, students, and teachers, all working together to the fullest extent possible.
The vision of Good Samaritan School is to bring out confident, hardworking, self-disciplined, resilient students who will be an asset to the family and society. Moreover it is the desire of the school authorities that the students will have a happy atmosphere in the school and learn important life skills to be successful in life. To make it happen, basic discipline in student life is of almost importance.
Maintaining Time and Punctuality:
- All students are expected to be punctual and be in school on time.
- At the first bell students are expected to go in line for Morning Assembly. When the Assembly is over, the students go back in line escorted by their class teacher.
- Movement to other rooms in the school should also be on time.
- Submission of any paper, project or work should be done on time.
- The class teacher is overall in charge of classroom. The class monitors for girls and boys work under class teacher.
- The monitors are responsible for discipline inside and outside the classroom in school.
- The first 5 minutes are for attendance and to get ready with books and notebooks for the first period.
- Books & Copy notes should be brought to school, only as per the given Time Table.
- The School Diary should be brought every day to the school.
- Other than text books or library books, no other books, magazines or papers should be brought to the school without prior permission from the class teacher.
- Students are not allowed to bring to school valuable articles like expensive watches, fountain pens, transistors, radios, tape recorders, camera, mobile phones or electronic gadgets, jewellery etc. The school will not allow use of these in campus, or be responsible for any loss.
- During school hours no student is allowed to leave the class without valid classroom out pass.
- For availing the services of Medical Room, a student has to get written permission (except in exigency) from the concerned subject/ class teacher in his/her school diary.
Discipline outside classroom
- Change of classroom between periods should be done in silence.
- Students should always walk in the corridor towards their right. This helps to walk on the road facing the traffic.
- Shouting or whistling is not allowed in or around the school building.
- Students should not litter any area inside the school.
Discipline outside the School
- Those who commute alone must never roam around on the way but return home straight without delay. Students are not allowed to gather in groups outside the school.
- Students are advised not to buy any eatable from the street vendors and not depend on non-nutritious snacks, biscuits etc., but bring nutritious home prepared food.
- No student is allowed to enter the school on a motorcycle or scooter. Vehicles should be parked outside. Students coming to school by bicycle should refrain from double or triple riding. They must not ride the bicycle in the school compound.
- Students who come to school under the care of guardians/ drivers/ servants/ rickshaw pullers should never leave the school before they arrive. In case of delay, they should report to the school office.
Cleanliness Standards
- Maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness is of utmost importance.
- Water, sanitizer, and soaps are available for use in the school. Washrooms should be flushed after use, and everyone is expected to keep it clean for the next person to use.
- There are separate toilets for physically challenged and staff. Other students are not allowed to use these.
- Students are not allowed to throw plastic bags or snack packets inside school premises. They should not stuff anything in the toilets. The school encourages use of paper bags and stainless steel boxes.
- Spitting is not allowed in school premises or washrooms.
Dress Code
- Students must come to school in neat, clean and unaltered uniform. This rule applies even when they come to school for any purpose other than attending classes or even after school hours.
- Altering the uniform or cutting it or scribbling on it, or improper wearing are not allowed.
- On Saturdays the students are expected to wear their Sports uniform according to their houses.
- It is compulsory for students to wear lab coat/ apron during practical periods in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Food Production/ Medical Diagnostics/ Home Science Lab. Otherwise student(s) will not be allowed to do practical.
- All school leaders should daily wear their badges.
- Any photographs for attestation, use in Identity Card or to print in the School Bulletin, should be taken only in School Uniform.
- Boys should get their normal hair cut at regular intervals. Abnormal hair-cuts, coloring/ dyeing and wearing of ear pins/rings are not allowed in the school.
- Girls should come to school with plaited hair or neatly tied (if short) with black bands only. No colored or fancy clips should be used.
Behaviour in School / etiquette
- Students should be very polite with others inside and outside the school.
- All students should greet their teachers whenever they meet them. No student can use any foul language against any other student of the school, teacher, visitor or guests.
- Any kind of gathering/celebration in the classroom or anywhere in or around school campus without proper permission is not allowed.
Responsibilities
- Any student who finds anyone in trouble should immediately report to the class teacher, Headmistress, or Vice Principal, or Principal or Medical Room personnel to take immediate action.
- Any student who notices something damaged in the school should report to the teacher even if he/ she does not know who had done it.
- Care must be taken of the school property and no one is allowed to scratch or spoil the desks and chairs or damage any school furniture, write or draw anything on the walls or in any way damage any article belonging to others.
- Damage done even by accident or mistake should be reported immediately to the class teacher, class monitor or to the Principal/ Vice-Principal/ Headmaster/ Headmistress.
- For willfully done damage, charges will be deducted from Security Deposit.
- Any damage done to the school property will be made good by the concerned student together with fine money imposed for such an offence.
School Bus
- Transport for carrying children on specified routes will be available on payment to be made on a monthly basis.
- Students travelling by bus must carry their bus pass daily with them duly signed and should be shown when asked.
- Indiscipline in the school bus will render the student ineligible to travel by school transport.
CCTV Surveillance
- Safeguarding the well-being of all students and staff is the primary concern of the school. As per the government orders, more than 250 CCTV cameras have been installed in the school premises which cover every nook and corner of the school. The CCTV Surveillance System ensures a safe, secure and healthy learning environment for all.
2. Resolution of problems will be based on the CCTV footage.
Attendance, Leave Rules and Withdrawal
- Every student must have at least 75% attendance to appear in the Periodic Tests and Annual Examinations. In case of serious problem, a doctor’s certificate can be given for CBSE approval. Those who fail to fulfill this criterion will be debarred from writing the exam. Request from the defaulter in this regard will not be entertained.
- However a prize for regular attendance is awarded on the basis of the total attendance in an academic year.
- No re-examination will be held for the students who remain absent in the Periodic Tests and Annual examinations. A fine of 100/- per test/examination will be imposed on such students of class XII who skip these tests or examinations.
- No student will be allowed to leave the school campus during the school hours. However, in case of emergency, the parent/ authorized guardian as per “Parent’s Declaration” should come to school with the parent ID and an application explaining the reason to take the ward. If the Principal is satisfied with the explanation, the ward may be allowed to go.
- Reported absence without granting of leave or unexplained absence for twenty one consecutive days may result in the student’s name being struck off the rolls. Re-admission will be purely at the discretion of the Principal and that too with the re-admission fee. A fine of 10/- will be charged for every unexplained absence from the school.
- A clear calendar month’s notice is required before a student is withdrawn from the school.
- Transfer Certificate will not be issued until and unless all the dues of the school are settled.
- A student can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds:
- Indiscipline - instigating / causing fight in or outside the school campus
- Inappropriate behavior with other students
- Repeated detention in the class
- Sexual misconduct
Fee Schedule
- Fee is to be paid on a monthly basis by the 10th of every month. It is preferred that school fee is paid on quarterly or biannual or annual basis. (i.e. in April, July, October & January).
- After the 10th of the month, a fine of Rs.50/- per day will be charged if the fee is not paid.
- All dues should be cleared before the commencement of final examination.
Prohibited Activities
- Should not bring mobile phones to the school, unless asked by the teachers.
- Students should not bring any weapon or sharp article to the school.
- Students are warned not to bring any beverage, drug or any intoxicating substance.
- Use of abusive language/passing filthy or vulgar comments on social media or otherwise, will invite immediate stern action.
- Lending or borrowing money or valuable articles is strictly prohibited. In case of any loss, the school will not be responsible.
- Students are prohibited from taking any photograph with their mobile phones in the school campus.
- Students are not allowed to roam around the school when they are absent for the class.
Disciplinary Action by the School authorities
- The school reserves the right to terminate any student whose conduct is a bad example for other children.
- Bringing fireworks/ bursting them, or extending any kind of support for exploding crackers or splashing water or color or any other item in the school premises or outside in the vicinity of the school is strictly prohibited, even during festival time. Non-compliance of these instructions can result in expulsion from the school.
